  • Marketing

The Project:

In 2012 legendary rock band Led Zeppelin reunited for a one-off concert at London's O2 Arena as a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun, the storied founder of Atlantic Records. The show was arguably the hottest concert ticket ever, with a reported 20 million people from all over the world applying for the 15,000 available tickets. The show was filmed and recorded for a subsequent DVD and album release by the Warner Brothers/Rhino Records imprint.

Warner's and band management agreed to a global 'Event Cinema' release to provide a promotional platform from which to launch the album and DVD and to allow fans to view the show on a big screen with state of the art cinema audio.

Our Role:

  • Via a partnership with Omniverse Vision, Tsunami managed the US theatrical release for Celebration Day, as a precursor to the album and DVD release
  • Tsunami coordinated the release with an outsourced marketing and distribution team, including theatrical booking, 'print' distribution, marketing, media buying, radio promotion, publicity and social media marketing
  • The film opened on over 400 screens throughout the US across all major exhibitor chains, including AMC, Regal, Cinemark and Landmark Theaters.
  • The film was promoted similar to a live concert, with area screenings presented by classic rock stations and other music media
  • Tsunami managed the comprehensive integrated marketing campaign with Rhino's marketing team, coordinating the theatrical release with album and DVD pre-marketing initiatives; including a film premier in New York with the Band
